Last April, I took on the posittion of my school’s event coordinator on our student council. If you are new around here, you probably don’t know that I am SUPER into school spirit and all things homecoming (see last year’s post here). As event coordinator, a huge focus of my position is planning homecoming weekend, specifically spirit week and the dance. This past week could not have gone any better, multiple times throughout the week I wanted someone to pinch me as it felt like an absolute dream. We started off the week with a homeroom door decorating competition, so the entire school was decked out with streamers, candy, balloons and glitter. Spirit week had more participation than we ever expected and seriously made me so excited to see everyone so enthusiastic.

Friday brought the homecoming parade, pep rally and then football game. Our parade, which I was in charge of coordinating, was themed “Candyland” so each grade’s float was a different candy and our homecoming court. As I said in my previous post, my best friend Wesley asked me to homecoming so for the game I wore his jersey (a somewhat tradition for the dates of football players). We won against our rivals with an incredibly hype student section that I was afraid I would lose my voice.

Then came Saturday!!!! I, along with my event co Molly have been planning this dance for almost 6 months that seeing it all together felt like Christmas. Throughout the week student council had multiple dance setup days and I could not have been more proud of how everything turned out, including the fact we had the all time record number of ticket sales in any of my school’s history for any event. Our dance was themed “The Secret Garden” inspired by the book, so it was filled with flowers, lots of color and whimsical details. SO many fun details including two flower chandeliers, gold tinsel, twinkle lights and clear balloons. My group of friends all took pictures, ate dinner and then spent the rest of the night dancing. The only real way to describe my best friends is that during Bohemian Rhapsody, the rest of the school thought it was a slow dance but we were YELLING the lyrics in a circle and it was a highlight of the night. And the only way to really end a fun weekend is with Waffle House at 12 am.

My dress was from Lilly Pultizer, but per usual, I found it at the consignment store where I worked this summer and only had to pay $5. The lace is actually butterflies and fit like a GLOVE, couldn’t have been more perfect. I found my earrings at a J.Crew sale and my shoes, although uncomfortable (Beauty is pain) are my favorite shade of pink from Nordstrom Rack.

Below are all of the pictures (click on the slideshow to see better).
