Prom 2017

Apr 30, 2017

If you haven’t noticed from social media, it’s prom season. My school’s prom was this past weekend and not to anyone’s surprise, I was the student head of the prom committee alongside my best friend Maddie. For the past 3+ months, prom has consumed my brain and I am so excited for how it turned out. The Junior class hosts the prom every year, while Student Council does homecoming (I was also in charge of – read more here). This year’s prom was “The Golden Age of Hollywood” based on classic old movies which was completely different than this past fall’s Secret Garden theme.

While most girls leaned towards black, white or red (some blues) to go with the theme, I found this plum ruffle dress on major sale as a consignment bridesmaids dress. It’s my all time favorite shade of pink (I actually wore a plum ruffle dress to my cousins wedding back in 2010 after my obnoxious obsession with the movie “Confessions of A Shoppaholic”) and I loved how bold, but classy it was. I wore it with a silver belt from Francesca’s and these super funky gray bauble earrings (similar).

I took my friend Cole, who I’ve known since 7th grade because we teach Cotillion classes together. We’ve been ballroom dancing & working together for five years so getting to swing dance at prom was a highlight before he leaves for college.

Funny story: Before prom, we went to get dinner and at the table next to us was four little girls who thought we were princesses. They asked for our autograph and it was the sweetest thing. (See more on my Twitter!)

My dad took this picture of my hair & I’m just a bit in love with it.

Mads & I: We were the main two in charge of prom and while it was tiring, it was so worth it.

I love getting to see months of hard work all come together! I’m already starting to have event coordinator withdrawal but I just have to get through exams, then I can start on Homecoming for the fall!

xoxo
