If ya didn’t know I applied to 11 colleges….. I know. I know. I’m crazy. However, despite my craziness of applying to too many schools I did figure out a “method to my madness” which resulted in a spreadsheet that saved time and energy, my college application organizer. I simplified my application process down to columns with:
- the school
- a space for everything needed to do
- if it was on the common app
- what essays were needed
- deadlines
- scholarships
- scholarship requirements & their due dates
While it seems elementary, the college app process as a rising senior is daunting and insane so having a resource that I knew had every single detail on it made sure it was all held accountable then I would transfer it over to my planner. After filling it all in I would color code it during the year (green = application/ scholarship submitted, yellow = in progress, red = need to meet with a teacher/advisor to go over, pink = emailing the college/have a question) which meant I kept everything in one place. Another great part of the spreadsheet specifically on Google docs? I shared it as “comment only” with my parents who were able to see real time progress. Talking about college applications becomes obnoxious and frankly stress-inducing so if my parents knew I was overwhelmed with school they could look at the document and be up to date.
I have provided a way to access it digitally or if you want it written down on paper because I know that would definitely help some people! If you do use the organizer let me know on social media because I would love to see it in real time!
